Vocational training: Germany to provide €42.4 million

ISLAMABAD:
The agreement between the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) and a German development agency, GIZ, for the grant of €42.4 million is expected to be signed here on Wednesday, a statement said on Tuesday. The grant aims at the implementation of National Skills Strategy 2009-13, it said. The statement added that the grant would be used to redesign and redevelop the curricula and skill standards for technical and vocational education and training according to international standards. NAVTTC, through the Economic Affairs Division and in consultation with the provincial stakeholders, has negotiated a technical assistance programme with the European Union and the governments of the Netherlands and Germany that have given the grant. The programme will be executed by NAVTTC in collaboration with GIZ over a period of five years, the statement said.
