Provincial Minister for Minorities Ramesh Singh Arora has said that the distribution of Christmas grants and the forthcoming inauguration of minority cards will benefit 50,000 families.
He expressed these views during meeting with Austrian Ambassador to Pakistan Andree Wick at his camp office on Friday. The discussion focused on various measures implemented by the Punjab government to protect and empower religious minorities.
During the meeting, Minister Arora provided a comprehensive overview of the progressive steps taken by the provincial government to foster inclusivity and promote religious harmony. He emphasised recent initiatives aimed at celebrating religious festivals and uplifting minority communities.
He also outlined the Punjab government's participation in interfaith celebrations, including the Chief Minister's visit to Marymambad, the government-level observance of Baisakhi and Diwali festivals, and the Honhaar Scholarship Program, which provides scholarships for minority youth.
Additionally, he mentioned the Laptops Scheme, aimed at enhancing educational opportunities for deserving students from minority communities.
The minister also shared details about an upcoming five-year strategic plan, developed with the assistance of the World Bank, for the protection of religious minorities and all segments of society.
Ambassador Andree Wick and the Austrian delegation commended the Punjab government's efforts to promote interfaith dialogue and advance the rights of religious minorities. They expressed their appreciation for the inclusive policies and initiatives introduced by the provincial government, recognizing their importance in building a more tolerant and equitable society.
