SC judge calls for prioritising child's interests

ISLAMABAD:

Supreme Court judge Syed Mansoor Ali Shah has said the judiciary must consider the rights and rehabilitation of children when making decisions related to them. He laid stress on adopting a Child Justice Approach, which prioritizes the child's best interests as a cornerstone of justice.

In a written judgment, Justice Shah noted that the Child Justice Approach necessitates sensitivity to the circumstances of children, access to education, protection from exploitation, and the creation of an environment conducive to their development within society.
