Billie Eilish celebrated her 23rd birthday with the release of Vanity Fair’s eighth annual interview, a tradition where the global superstar answers the same questions each year, revealing her personal and professional growth.

This year, the Grammy and Oscar-winning artist reflected on what she described as a “big, big year.” Highlights included releasing her album Hit Me Hard & Soft, winning her second Oscar for the Barbie anthem “What Was I Made For?,” and achieving the title of most monthly listeners on Spotify worldwide. “It’s been a friendship-filled year,” Eilish said, noting she also went on tour, made new friends, and adopted another dog.

The interview showcased Eilish’s reflections on past goals, including adventure pursuits like skydiving and bungee jumping, which she hasn’t yet completed. However, she ticked off a significant goal she set for herself in a previous interview: building meaningful friendships. “I’ve done nothing but make friends all year,” she shared, before candidly adding, “And, yes, I’ve had a lot of good sex.”

On the music front, Eilish revealed her recent love for old Lady Gaga tracks such as “Alejandro,” “Poker Face,” and “Born This Way.” “It’s so good,” she said, appreciating the nostalgic melodies.

Eilish reflected on her personal growth and self-trust, noting how she has learned to navigate relationships carefully. “It’s always scary when you fall in love,” she admitted. “I’ve been very cautious, and I’ve been a really good girl.”

Summing up her year, Eilish expressed gratitude for her journey, concluding, “I can’t believe the way my life has gone and where it is now.”
