Wholesale Grocers Group Chairman Abdul Rauf Ibrahim has said that the official flour prices set by the Commissioner Karachi are not in line with the market prices but they are higher than the current prevailing rates, which will benefit flour mills instead of consumers.
The representative of grocery traders said that the current wholesale rate of fine flour, which is used in making household chapattis, is Rs86 per kg.
The Commissioner increased the rate of fine flour by Rs4 in contrast to the market rate.
The rate of super fine flour, used for making white bread, puri, paratha, and white naan, has been slightly reduced by Rs1 per kg. Fine flour is already being sold wholesale at Rs96 per kg. Current price of wheat was not taken into account in determining the official prices.
