Television presenter and architect George Clarke has shared details of a terrifying incident where he was robbed at knifepoint. The Amazing Spaces star, 50, took to social media to recount the mugging, expressing relief that he escaped unharmed despite the emotional toll. Clarke wrote, “I could have been stabbed… it’s only a watch at the end of the day.”

The watch, which Clarke confirmed held deep sentimental value, was taken during the street robbery. Though he did not specify the model, Clarke has previously spoken about his pride in wearing his late grandfather’s Omega timepiece. In a follow-up, he admitted frustration about the incident, saying, “I wanted to hit him but I’d be the one done for assault.”

Support quickly poured in from Clarke’s followers, who expressed their concern and sympathy. One fan commented, “Hope you are okay and weren’t hurt,” while others described the ordeal as both “shocking” and “frightening.”

Clarke, renowned for hosting shows like Old House, New House and The Restoration Man, has built a celebrated career as an architect and designer. While professionally successful, Clarke’s life has been shaped by personal tragedy, including the loss of his father in a water-skiing accident when he was just seven years old. Reflecting on that experience in the past, Clarke has said it inspired him to make the most of every day.

Currently residing in Notting Hill, Clarke maintains a private personal life while raising three children. Despite this harrowing event, the Channel 4 presenter remains positive, using the experience to emphasize the importance of safety and resilience.
