More than 21 years after its original release, the beloved rom-com How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is reportedly getting a sequel. Stars Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey have been approached to reprise their iconic roles as Andie Anderson and Benjamin Barry, with an early script already in development.

Tentatively titled How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days – Again, the sequel will follow Andie and Ben as they prepare for marriage. However, the storyline will also delve into Andie’s fractured relationship with her mother, a role Hudson hopes will be played by her real-life mom, Goldie Hawn.

An insider revealed to DailyMail.com that Hawn, 78, is hesitant about portraying a strained mother-daughter dynamic, given how close she and Hudson are in real life. “Goldie is worried she will find it really hard to play a mother who is at odds with her daughter,” the source explained, adding that Hudson is “begging her to do it.”

The original 2003 film, which grossed $177.5 million globally, followed Andie, a magazine writer, and Ben, an ad executive, who each pursued the other for conflicting reasons—Andie to write an article on how to drive a man away in 10 days and Ben to win a bet that he could make any woman fall in love with him. Their chaotic relationship culminated in a heartfelt, iconic ending on the Manhattan Bridge.

Hudson previously shared her openness to revisiting the film during a Watch What Happens Live interview, emphasizing that “the script” would be the deciding factor for both her and McConaughey. McConaughey echoed this sentiment, calling the film “teed up for a sequel”.

The project marks a long-awaited reunion for Hudson and McConaughey, who also co-starred in 2008’s Fool’s Gold. Production is expected to begin in 2025 with Christine Peters’ Marmont Lane Entertainment returning to produce.
