Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) senior leader and former chairman of the Evacuee Trust Property Board, Siddiqul Farooq, has passed away after a prolonged battle with kidney disease.
Family sources confirmed that he had been suffering from a kidney ailment for a significant period before his death.
Farooq, a seasoned political figure, held several prominent positions throughout his career. He served as the principal secretary to three-time Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, headed the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), and was the information secretary for PML-N.
His funeral prayers will be held at the H-11 cemetery in Islamabad at 11 a.m. on Monday (tomorrow).
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his deep sorrow over Siddiqul Farooq's passing, offering condolences to his family.
He praised the late leader's contributions to PML-N, calling him a sincere politician whose services to the party would always be remembered.
PML-N Senator Irfan Siddiqui also paid tribute to Farooq, calling him a man of strong principles and unwavering loyalty.
He highlighted Farooq's courage during difficult times, particularly his refusal to testify against Nawaz Sharif. Senator Siddiqui also remarked that Farooq's death marked a significant loss to both journalism and politics, emphasizing his invaluable contributions to democracy.
