Actor Jamie Foxx’s 57th birthday celebration at the upscale Mr. Chow restaurant in Beverly Hills took an unexpected turn on Friday night. According to his spokesperson, Foxx was struck in the mouth by a glass allegedly thrown from another table, requiring stitches. The Beverly Hills Police Department confirmed receiving a call at 10:06 p.m. for a reported assault with a deadly weapon, according to the TMZ

Witnesses described tensions escalating after Foxx requested that a group at a nearby table stop being rude, as his family was present. In response, someone allegedly threw the glass, striking Foxx in the mouth. Police later classified the assault report as “unfounded,” but officers documented the incident as battery and confirmed no arrests were made. The case remains under investigation, while Foxx reportedly left the restaurant before authorities arrived.

The incident comes just days after Foxx expressed gratitude for life following a serious health scare in 2023, during which a brain bleed caused a stroke. Reflecting on his recovery earlier in the week, Foxx shared his appreciation for seeing another birthday and thanked fans for their prayers. “It’s beautiful because I didn’t know if I would be here to celebrate it,” he told photographers.

The timing of the altercation contrasts sharply with Foxx’s recent return to the stage in his Netflix special, What Happened Was, which premiered Tuesday. In the special, he opened up about his near-death experience, revealing that he lost memory of 20 days during his hospitalization but was ultimately able to recover fully.

As Foxx recovers from this latest incident, he remains focused on his professional commitments and his gratitude for life, embodying resilience amidst challenges.
