The 2nd Commissioner Karachi Sports Festival 2024-25 was inaugurated by Sindh Minister for Women Development, Shahina Sher Ali along with Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi at an impressive ceremony held on Tuesday at the Government Girls Degree College, Lines Area.

Sindh Minister Shahina Sher, while speaking on the occasion, said that the students and youth of the metropolis should participate in the festival in a huge number.

"Along with the academics, it is important for the youth to compete in sports and healthy activities which will help them in showcasing their talent," said the Sindh Minister.

Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi said he and his team will ensure that the sports festival is a huge success. "This is a great opportunity for the youth to display its talents and focus its energies on healthy activities."

The sports festival will conclude on January 5.

Naqvi said the festival will be followed by inter-school games. The festival will feature competitions in boxing, kabaddi, wheelchair basketball, rowing, table tennis, badminton (for both boys and girls), cricket followed by a cultural show.

Also present on the occasion were Sports Advisor to Commissioner Karachi Ghulam Muhammad Khan and Chairman Organizing Committee AC Hazim Bangwar, who briefed the media about the activities and events of the sports festival.

Assistant Commissioner Bilal Alvi, SP Ateequr Rehman, Principal Degree College Azra Parveen and many leading sports personalities also attended the opening ceremony of the sports festival.

The opening event featured a tug-of-war competition. The boys event was won by National College while the girls event was won by Liaquat College.
