Tony Buzbee, the attorney behind a refiled civil lawsuit accusing Jay-Z of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000, has alleged harassment following Jay-Z’s strong denial of the claims.
The lawsuit, which was originally filed in October against Sean “Diddy” Combs, now includes Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, as a defendant.
The anonymous accuser, "Jane Doe," claims Carter and Combs assaulted her after an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty. Carter, however, has publicly called the allegations an act of blackmail. He alleged that Buzbee attempted to coerce him into an out-of-court settlement through extortion tactics.
“These actions had the opposite effect,” Carter stated, vowing to expose the accuser’s claims as fraudulent. “You have made a terrible error in judgment thinking that all ‘celebrities’ are the same. I’m not from your moral world. I’m a young man who made it out of the projects of Brooklyn.”
Carter expressed frustration over the lawsuit, asserting his commitment to honor and protecting children, while accusing Buzbee of exploiting the situation for personal gain.
In response, Buzbee took to Instagram, alleging that he and his family are being harassed and followed by "mysterious people." He also claimed that his colleagues, employees, and clients have been contacted in attempts to discredit him.
Filed under New York’s Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act, the lawsuit seeks unspecified damages. Carter’s robust denial and Buzbee’s harassment claims continue to escalate the high-profile legal battle, drawing significant public attention.
