Internet personality Trisha Paytas made an unexpected appearance on 'Saturday Night Live' in a humorous sketch centered around Paul Mescal’s Spotify Wrapped for 2024. The segment poked fun at Mescal’s unique music taste, revealing his most-listened artist to be a fictional “anti-instrumentalist sound guru” named Satoshi Gutman, portrayed by Bowen Yang.

Mescal’s Spotify Wrapped highlighted over 170,000 minutes spent listening to Gutman’s offbeat soundscapes. In the sketch, Mescal’s friends, played by Andrew Dismukes, Ego Nwodim, and Sarah Sherman, reacted with disbelief, prompting Mescal to share a video of Gutman performing his song “Y’all Made Me Celibate.” With a Targaryen-inspired wig and goatee, Gutman’s eccentric performance and fanbase—whom he humorously calls “bastards”—added to the comedy.

Building on Gutman’s oddball persona, the sketch introduced his podcast, Awakenings, where Trisha Paytas appeared as a guest. Paytas greeted listeners with a spirited “Hey bastards!” and joined Gutman in chanting their signature line, “The best bucy is celibacy.” Their quirky interaction elevated the absurdity, blending perfectly with the sketch’s playful tone.

Mescal defended his Spotify Wrapped choices, emphasizing individuality and self-expression. “Spotify Wrapped isn’t about judging people,” he declared. “It’s about sharing the soundtrack of your life.” The scene wrapped up with a surprise in-person visit from Gutman and Paytas, delivering a hilariously bizarre conclusion.

The sketch resonated with audiences, who praised its blend of satire and pop culture commentary. Clips of the segment went viral on social media, highlighting SNL’s continued ability to find humor in modern trends while engaging with its audience.
