The president of the Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA) has also endorsed Supreme Court judge Syed Mansoor Ali Shah's contention that a full court must urgently be convened to take up petitions challenging the 26th Constitutional Amendments.
In a statement issued on Friday, he also agreed with Justice Shah's argument that the reconstituted Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) needs to first frame its rules before deliberating on nominations for appointments as additional judges in high courts.
"The JCP [meeting] should be postponed for now," he said.
Justice Shah on December 4 wrote a letter to the JCP chairmanChief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi---urging him to form a full court to hear the pleas challenging the contentious 26th amendment.
The judge also requested the CJ to postpone a JCP meeting--scheduled for December 6--until the amendment case is decided and the JCP's rules are made. The meeting of the JCP, however, took place as per schedule on Friday.
