Angelina Jolie made a rare and casual appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, choosing to go barefoot after injuring her toe. Host Jimmy Fallon noticed her lack of shoes and jokingly asked if she had forgotten them. Jolie explained, “I broke my toe yesterday,” adding that she couldn’t find a comfortable shoe, so she decided to skip them altogether.
The Maleficent star admitted that she was feeling “nervous” about the interview, as she hadn’t accepted a talk show invite in nearly a decade. She explained that such appearances make her uncomfortable, but she still agreed to be a guest.
During the conversation, Fallon asked about her children’s potential interest in joining the entertainment industry. Jolie revealed that while some of her kids, like Shiloh, prefer privacy, others are interested in working behind the scenes. "They really, really want to be—especially Shiloh—private," she said. "Not photographed, not on a thing." Despite being in the public eye, Jolie respects her children's desire for privacy, especially considering it wasn’t their choice to be raised in the spotlight.
Jolie also addressed some career rumors. Fallon asked if she had ever considered becoming a funeral director, to which she responded affirmatively. She explained that after her grandfather’s death, she considered the profession and believed it could offer a more celebratory approach to life.
However, when asked about the speculation of her pursuing stand-up comedy, Jolie swiftly dismissed the idea. “That is definitely a no,” she said, adding that while she could handle funerals and flying a plane, stand-up comedy "terrifies" her.
Jolie is currently promoting her new film Maria, where she portrays opera singer Maria Callas. The film is scheduled for release in UK cinemas on January 10, 2024.
