A remarkable love story unfolded in Philadelphia, where Marjorie Fiterman, 102, and Bernie Littman, 100, found love in their golden years.
Both had lived fulfilling lives and lost their spouses before moving into the same senior living community, never expecting to find love again.
But after nine years of companionship, the couple tied the knot, making history as the oldest married couple with a combined age of 202 years and 271 days.
Their journey began at a costume party in their building, where they instantly connected. Their first date coincided with the birth of one of Bernie’s great-granddaughters, marking the start of a deep and lasting relationship.
Although they attended the University of Pennsylvania around the same time—Bernie studying engineering and Marjorie becoming a teacher—their paths never crossed until fate brought them together in the senior community.
Bernie’s granddaughter, Sarah Sicherman, shared the heartwarming news on social media, saying, “With so much sadness and fear in the world, it’s nice to share something that brings people joy.” She added, “Today, my 100-year-old grandfather married his 102-year-old girlfriend! They both had 60-plus years of marriage to their first spouses and found love again at 100.”
Their bond grew stronger as they shared meals and participated in community productions together. Bernie attributes his long life to staying curious, reading, and keeping up with current events, while Marjorie credits her longevity to drinking buttermilk.
