NBC is set to introduce Duo, a new family drama starring real-life couple Chris Wood and Melissa Benoist, with Rina Mimoun (Mistresses) serving as the showrunner.
The project, currently in development, is being produced by Warner Bros. Television, where both Benoist's production company, Three Things Productions, and Mimoun are under overall deals.
In Duo, Wood plays a soft-spoken, blue-collar worker, while Benoist portrays a magnetic performer searching for her next big break. Their fateful encounter sparks a partnership that transforms both of their lives. The series centers on the rise of a new two-person band and the challenges that come with their growing fame, impacting not only their relationship but also the lives of those closest to them.
Drawing comparisons to shows like Daisy Jones and the Six, Duo promises to showcase Benoist and Wood's musical talents. Benoist's musical skills were first highlighted in her role on Glee, while Wood brings his experience in musical theater, including his Broadway role in Almost Famous. The series will highlight their chemistry both on and off-screen, as the duo previously worked together on Supergirl.
Mimoun, who has collaborated with Benoist on The Girls On the Bus, will executive produce Duo alongside Benoist through Three Things Productions. Wood will serve as co-executive producer. The project has generated significant buzz, and fans are eager to see the pair bring their talents to this new venture.
Benoist's upcoming projects include Netflix’s The Waterfront, while Wood continues to expand his acting career. Duo is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated new dramas in NBC's upcoming lineup.
