Dubai-based billionaire says skyrocketing food delivery demand will lead to apartments being sold without kitchens

Dubai is set to become the first city in the world with kitchenless buildings, as food delivery and e-commerce grow rapidly where Mohamed Ali Alabbar, founder of Noon, shared that plans for such buildings are already in progress, driven by the soaring demand for online food delivery.

He noted that diverse dining preferences make kitchens unnecessary in homes. Noon, launched in 2017 with a $1 billion investment, has become a leading e-commerce platform in the UAE, rivaling global giants like Amazon.

"I believe we'll be selling apartments without kitchens soon. The demand for food delivery is skyrocketing. Today, one family member craves Chinese, another wants a cheeseburger, and another prefers Mexican," said the Dubai-based billionaire on Monday.

Alabbar predicts Noon Food will dominate the UAE market within months, taking share from competitors and credits the UAE and Dubai governments for creating policies that foster rapid business growth and support businesses in succeeding globally.

"Anyone in competition will lose out. We do business differently, with an obsession for excellence in everything we do, always staying on the offensive," said Alabbar.

He stressed the importance of adhering to regulations, especially anti-competition laws, and expressed deep nationalism, focusing on benefiting the UAE through big businesses.
