Jamie Lee Komoroski sentenced to 25 years for deadly DUI crash killing bride and injuring groom

Jamie Lee Komoroski received a 25-year prison sentence for killing a bride and injuring her groom in a DUI crash.

Jamie Lee Komoroski, the woman responsible for a tragic accident that killed a bride and severely injured her groom, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison. The incident occurred on April 28, 2023, when Komoroski, who had been drinking heavily, crashed into a golf cart at more than double the speed limit. The collision killed 34-year-old bride Samantha Miller, who was still wearing her wedding dress, and caused severe injuries to her husband, Aric Hutchinson.

Komoroski, 27, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including reckless homicide, felony DUI causing death, and two counts of felony DUI causing great bodily injury. She was sentenced by Judge Deadra Jefferson, who handed down the maximum sentence of 25 years for the DUI-related death, along with additional sentences for the injuries caused to Hutchinson and the reckless homicide charge. These sentences will be served concurrently.

According to authorities, Komoroski’s blood-alcohol content was measured at 0.26%, more than three times the legal limit. She had been drinking at several bars before getting behind the wheel, traveling 65 mph on a narrow road with a 25 mph limit when the crash occurred. The golf cart was sent flying over 100 yards by the impact.

During her sentencing, Komoroski expressed deep remorse, acknowledging her alcohol addiction and the irreversible harm she caused. She pledged to dedicate her life to helping others and raising awareness about the dangers of drunk driving. Meanwhile, Hutchinson, who sustained brain injuries and multiple broken bones, spoke about the emotional toll the incident has had on him, revealing that he thinks about it every day.

Miller’s family voiced their anguish in court, with her father telling Komoroski he could never forgive her for the pain she caused.
