People across province celebrate Sindh Culture Day

Sindh Culture Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm across the province on Sunday.

Rallies that started in the day continued till late night in various cities of Sindh.

The second largest urban centre of the province, Hyderabad, was echoing with Sindhi nationalist songs. Various rallies with men in turbans and ajraks, some brandishing the traditional axe, roamed about in small and large rallies that culminated at Hyderabad Press Club.

Be it urban or rural areas of Mirpurkhas, people celebrated the cultural day with great enthusiasm. More than 20 small and large rallies were taken out at different places in Mirpurkhas.

Cultural rallies from different parts of the city reached Nawabshah Press Club where the participants danced happily to Sindhi folk songs. Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party, Jiay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, Jiay Sindh Mahaz, and Sufism World led by GM Dahri alias Mast Parwaz's followers also organised rallies with drums and shehnai. These processions culminated at the press club.

A blood donation camp was also set up by the Thalassemia Centre under the supervision of social activist Agha Rashid outside Nawabshah Press Club. Many participants from the cultural rallies donated blood for underprivileged patients.

In addition to the journalists, officials and workers of political, social, academic, literary, business, urban, fishing organizations, thousands of children participated in the event held in front of the Badin Press Club and the Badin Press House, in addition to the large number of children on foot, riding on small and large vehicles, rickshaws and motorcycles. The participants, wearing Sindhi Ajrak and caps, also expressed their happiness by dancing bhangra to the beat of national and cultural songs and drums.

Children of government and private schools performed dances on cultural songs in the district headquarters of Tharparkar, Mithi. The Rajput community participated and performed their traditional sword dance. The children performed Dandia dance on songs in Sindhi and Dhatki languages. Dhatki is an Indo-Aryan Language of the Indo-European language family. It is mainly spoken in Tharparkar and Umerkot districts of Sindh and in Barmer district of Rajasthan.

In Dhabeji, young people, old people and children were dancing happily to Sindhi songs on the streets, neighborhoods and roads wearing Sindhi caps and ajraks.

Events were organized at various places regarding the Cultural Day, in which those who participated were dressed in Sindhi caps and ajraks. In Sanghar too, people of all ages participated in rallies wearing Sindhi caps and ajraks and raising slogans of "Jiay Sindh". In Tando Adam, colourful programmes were organized and rallies were taken out in various place, in which, people of political parties, social organisations, schools and colleges regarding Sindhi culture.

In Thatta, taking into account the instructions of IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon and DIGP Hyderabad Range Tariq Razak Dharejo, SSP Thatta Dr. Muhammad Imran Khan participated in the Cultural Day rally organised by District Police Thatta and District Administration Thatta.

Like all over Sindh, Culture Day was celebrated with joy in Tandojam and various places like Sindhu Nagar Colony, Mir Colony. Rallies were taken out from Tando Qaiser, Kesana, Mori and other areas, and a central ceremony was held upon reaching the Tando Jam Press Club.

PPP Sindh spokesperson Ajaz Dhamrah, in a statement while congratulating the people on Sindh Culture Day said the heirs of Mohenjo-Daro Civilisation are the torchbearers of the legacy of peaceful and prosperity. "No weapons were found in the excavation of Mohenjo Darro, as its civilisation was based on peace, love, and hard work," he said. The land of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, and Sachal Sarmast teaches love for humanity. Sindhis are people who respect and value every culture and civilization.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Sindh President Nisar Ahmad Khoro and Sindh Assembly Speaker Syed Owais Qadir Shah in their message on the Sindhi Culture Day said Sindh created Pakistan. "We respect the culture of all nations, however, mocking the culture of Sindh and attack on water and unity of Sindh will not be tolerated under any circumstances," Khuhro said.

It is worth noting that Sindh Cultural Day, celebrated on the first Sunday of December each year, is a joyous occasion for the people of Sindh. On this day, people are seen dressed in the traditional colors of Sindh, further highlighting the region's rich cultural identity.
