Kendrick Lamar has reportedly responded to Drake allegedly taking shots at him during his appearance on a Kick livestream with Canadian streamer xQc. The two artists have been involved in one of the most notorious feuds in hip-hop, which led to the release of high-profile diss tracks like Not Like Me and Family Matters.
Last weekend, Drake appeared on xQc's Kick livestream and introduced himself by saying: “I’m here — mind, body and soul fully intact, in case you were wondering. You need facts to take me out; fairytales won’t do it.” This unusual introduction seems to be a reference to Kendrick Lamar's diss tracks where Lamar accuses Drake of various scandals, including allegedly fathering a secret child, inappropriate behavior with young girls, and signing sex offenders to his record label.
A report from the NFR Podcast on X revealed Kendrick Lamar's supposed reaction to Drake's comments during the livestream. It included a screenshot of a conversation where Lamar was informed about Drake's remarks. In response, Lamar reportedly wrote: "He trippin??!"
Although Drake did not directly mention Lamar during his appearance, he did seem to take a jab at fellow artist The Weeknd. When xQc began playing The Weeknd’s 2016 track Starboy, Drake commented: "You’ve gotta switch this song, though. You have to switch this one. We’re the real Sixers, the real 6ix side. We don’t listen to that."
Drake and Kendrick Lamar are known for their ongoing rivalry, which has become one of the most legendary in hip-hop history. The beef reached its peak in mid-2024.
The tension began back in 2013 when Kendrick Lamar featured on Big Sean's track Control, where he threw shots at Drake. However, Kendrick later clarified that his verses were meant to be seen as "friendly competition."
The feud escalated further on March 22, 2024, when Kendrick Lamar released the diss track Like That, targeting both Drake and J. Cole after the two collaborated on the song First Person Shooter in 2023. In First Person Shooter, J. Cole declared that he was part of the "big three," consisting of himself, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar. Drake responded in April with the tracks Taylor Made Freestyle and Push Ups.
