LAHORE:

Amid the road closures caused by PTI's protest on Sunday, a groom was forced to seat his bride on a motorbike and ride off into their new life, dodging traffic and chaos.

A video capturing the moment shows the bride, resplendent in her wedding attire, walking a distance before climbing onto the back of the groom's motorbike.

Despite efforts to speak with the couple, they refrained from commenting as their celebratory exit turned into a logistical nightmare.

The viral footage of the unusual wedding send-off came to capture the turmoil gripping the city as PTI's demonstrations and the government's crackdown threw normal life into disarray.

The citywide roadblocks left citizens grappling with severe disruptions, with major intersections like Batti Chowk entirely paralysed.

Elsewhere, the impact of the protests was grimmer. A father was forced to carry his sick child and an oxygen cylinder on foot to a hospital, navigating barricades and closed roads.

Ambulances carrying deceased individuals were stranded for hours near Saggian Bridge, and perishable goods worth thousands were ruined as delivery trucks sat idle in traffic.

Similarly, pedestrians were not spared either. An elderly woman collapsed near Batti Chowk and had to be rescued by emergency services. The police, meanwhile, detained several locals in a bid to enforce order at the protest site.
