Referred to as the “Bluesky Child Lover Butterfly Symbol Theory,” the conspiracy suggests that the logo resembles a symbol used by the Childlove Online Media Activist group, which advocates for the decriminalization of adult-minor relationships. Critics on X have tied the platform’s logo to liberal politics, pointing to Bluesky’s rising popularity among users leaving X after Elon Musk’s acquisition and his perceived right-leaning stance.

The allegations gained traction when an X user posted a comparison of the Bluesky logo with the alleged symbol, sparking widespread discussions. In response to the increased attention, Bluesky’s safety team acknowledged receiving a record 42,000 complaints in 24 hours, addressing issues such as spam, fraud, and reports of child exploitation. The platform stated that these reports are being prioritized through a triage system, focusing on the most severe cases first.
