Following Donald Trump’s re-election as U.S. President, Florida-based cruise line Villa Vie Residences announced a bold new initiative: the Tour La Vie program.
This unique offering allows passengers to escape political turmoil and travel the world for up to four years. The program includes options like the one-year “Escape from Reality” cruise, the two-year “Mid-Term Selection,” the three-year “Everywhere but Home,” and the four-year “Skip Forward” package.
Prices start at under $40,000 per year, with single-occupancy cabins priced at $256,000 and double-occupancy at $320,000 for the full journey.
CEO Mikael Petterson explained the idea behind the venture: “Villa Vie offers a unique one-of-a-kind way to see the whole world at a slow pace where you have enough time to actually experience the cultural vibe of every port.
Your villa is your bedroom, and the ship is your home.” Petterson added that the announcement generated a “huge uptick” in inquiries after Trump’s victory, though the campaign itself was planned before the election.
“We came up with this marketing campaign before we even knew who would win. Regardless of who would have won, you would have half of the population upset. We just wanted to give people who feel threatened to have a way to get out,” added Anne Alms, Villa Vie’s Head of Sales.
The internet was quick to react, with diverse and often humorous takes. One user wrote, “This his plan to take out all his non-supporters.” Another quipped, “Best money I’ll ever spend,” while others criticized the concept: “At that point you might as well just move to a different country man.”

Some found humor in the idea, with comments like, “They probably gonna have to work the ship themselves,” and “I bet it's Trump behind this, wanting to execute his haters, lol.”

ironically, the people who CAN afford to go a 4-year cruise vacation do not feel the need to escape Tr*mp's term pic.twitter.com/A0ifuppZRK

The Tour La Vie cruise spans 425 ports and 140 countries, offering stops such as Antarctica, the Chilean Fjords, and an eight-day Amazon journey. Packages include amenities like food, WiFi, medical checkups, and weekly housekeeping.
The program aims to combine luxury with a unique escape from political discord, attracting both adventurers and skeptics alike.
