An Additional District and Sessions court on Thursday began the re-trial of Pakistani-American woman Wajiha Swati, who was brutally murdered in a property dispute worth billions of rupees.
Officials from the US Embassy in Pakistan also joined the hearing of the case at the court of Judge Faisal Rasheed at the Judicial Complex and reviewed the overall environment.
The police investigation team updated the government lawyers about the so far investigation into the case. After hearing the case, the judge adjourned the hearing till November 20, saying regular trials would start on the next date.
Earlier, the sessions court had awarded a death sentence to Rizwan Habib, the ex-husband of Wajiha and the principal accused. The woman had a property dispute with her ex-husband worth billions of rupees.
