In a now-deleted TikTok post, 'Saturday Night Live' cast member Chloe Fineman revealed that Elon Musk, who hosted the show in May 2021, made her cry during rehearsals. Fineman's admission came after her co-star Bowen Yang hinted on 'Watch What Happens Live' in August that a former male host had brought cast members to tears during a table-read by harshly criticizing sketch ideas.
Recalling Musk's comments, Fineman expressed her frustration, stating, "I’m the cast member that he made cry," after Musk criticized Dana Carvey's impression of him and claimed that 'SNL' had been "dying slowly." In her TikTok video, she responded directly to Musk, saying, "I’m like, you know what? I’m gonna come out and say at long last that I’m the cast member that he made cry."
Fineman described how she had stayed up late preparing a sketch for Musk, only to be met with disapproval. She added, "You stared at me like you were firing me from Tesla and were like, ‘It’s not funny.'" Musk reportedly leafed through the script, telling Fineman he "didn’t laugh once."
While Fineman noted that the sketch ultimately aired and Musk performed well, she suggested his critique could have been delivered with "a little manners." Neither Musk nor Fineman’s representatives have commented further on the incident.
