Judge throws out Angelina Jolie’s motions in $67M Château Miraval lawsuit

Angelina Jolie’s dismissal motions in $67M lawsuit over Château Miraval are rejected, clearing path for trial.

A judge has rejected Angelina Jolie’s motions to dismiss Brad Pitt’s lawsuit concerning their shared ownership of Château Miraval, a French winery, allowing the case to proceed to trial. 

Pitt claims Jolie violated a verbal agreement made regarding their 50-50 ownership by selling her shares to Stoli Group in 2021. According to court documents, the judge found sufficient basis to uphold Pitt’s claims, marking a pre-trial win for him.

The legal dispute centers on Pitt's argument that they had agreed to sell shares only to each other before offering them to third parties. Jolie contends that a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) dispute invalidated their original arrangement. Pitt, however, alleges the NDA was at Jolie's request and did not cover abuse allegations she made in 2022. While Jolie has previously urged an end to the legal proceedings for the sake of their children, Pitt’s sources suggest Jolie is using their family dynamic to complicate the case.

The former couple’s legal battle over Château Miraval adds to a lengthy dispute that began after their separation in 2016, with Pitt seeking at least $67 million in damages.
