ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) Monday inaugurated 'The Magic of Pastels,' a solo exhibition by celebrated artist Naveed Khan.

The exhibition was officially opened by Rahat Saeed, Operational Manager of the Creative Wing at the Pakistan National History Museum, who praised Khan's contributions to Pakistan's art scene.

In his opening remarks, Saeed lauded Khan's commitment to the pastel medium. "Naveed Khan's dedication to pastels reflects his artistic vision and spirit. His work showcases technical mastery and a profound connection to the world's beauty, inspiring future generations to explore the versatile medium of pastels."

The exhibit showcases the artist's twenty-year journey with pastels, featuring an impressive array of portraits, figures, birds, and landscapes.

Renowned for his distinct style, Khan explores genres ranging from hyper-abstraction to realism, using light, shadow, and texture to challenge traditional perceptions of pastel art in Pakistan.

Over a career spanning more than 15 years, he has become a significant figure in the art world as an artist, educator, critic, and curator.

His work has been exhibited in nearly 70 national and international shows, including seven solo exhibitions.

His accolades include over fifty national and international awards, notably the National Award 2009 from the Government of Pakistan.

PNCA will host a 'Pastels Workshop' led by Naveed Khan on Tuesday (today) from 2pm to 4pm.
