Rapper Lil Durk’s track ‘Wonderful Wayne and Jackie Boy,’ a collaboration with Babyface Ray, is expected to be presented as evidence in court to support allegations that he conspired to murder Quando Rondo. Durk, whose legal name is Durk Devontay Banks, was taken into custody on October 24, 2024, facing murder-for-hire accusations.
Released in 2022, ‘Wonderful Wayne and Jackie Boy’ is a track by Lil Durk and Babyface Ray from Babyface Ray’s album, ‘MOB.’ While the lyrics don’t explicitly name individuals, they reportedly reference street violence and depict distressing scenes, such as a parent seeing their child in the news. Toward the track’s end, Durk raps: "Got location (go, go)/ Green light (go, go, go, go, go)/Look on the news and see your son, you screamin', "No, no" (pu**y)/And all them ni**as hangin' with 'em, if you know, you know."
Banks’ October 24 arrest by federal agents followed a series of arrests within his record label, Only The Family (OTF), where five other members were apprehended on similar murder-for-hire and conspiracy charges. These arrests are reportedly linked to the 2022 killing of Quando Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, with Durk and his associates facing allegations of plotting to murder Rondo.
On October 24, 2024, Lil Durk was detained on suspected murder-for-hire charges, marking the latest in a series of arrests, including five associates from his label, Only The Family. The associates allegedly collaborated in a 2022 murder-for-hire plot against Quando Rondo, resulting in the death of Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a Robinson.
FBI agent Sarah Corcoran’s testimony, presented against Durk and his associates, contributed to an affidavit filed in federal court. Citing a report by Forbes, the affidavit claims Durk placed a bounty on Rondo’s life and includes evidence like witness statements and purchase records, such as flight tickets and credit card details. The affidavit alleges these transactions were made with cards linked to Durk’s label, OTF.
The affidavit describes the alleged 2022 murder plot targeting Quando Rondo as an act of retaliation for the 2020 death of rapper King Von, a close associate of Lil Durk, who was shot and killed outside a hookah lounge in Atlanta. Rondo’s associates were reportedly implicated in Von’s murder, and Rondo’s acquaintance, Timothy "Lul Tim" Leeks, was allegedly charged with Von's death.
Prosecutors claim that the five OTF members detained in custody traveled to Los Angeles in 2022 intending to kill Rondo in retaliation for Von’s murder, though the attempt instead resulted in the death of Robinson, Rondo’s cousin, who was in the same vehicle.
The U.S. District Attorney's office further alleges that Durk attempted to flee the country before his October 2024 arrest. Reportedly, the rapper had booked flights to Italy, Switzerland, and Dubai, though he ultimately did not board any.
