Mexico set a new Guinness World Record at the 2024 Egg Fair in Jalisco when more than 2,000 participants successfully balanced eggs on spoons in a race, breaking the previous record of 1,400 participants set in London.

The event, organised by the Tepatitlan Poultry Farmers Association, drew nearly 2,700 students from a local high school to compete in the unique balancing act.

Guinness World Records confirmed that 2,039 participants completed the race according to the rules, officially making it the world’s largest egg-on-spoon competition.

The event took place in Jalisco, a region that produces over half of Mexico’s eggs, symbolising its local cultural and economic importance.

In addition to the record-breaking race, the Egg Fair offered other egg-themed events, including an egg hunt, a cart race, a bicycle race, and a culinary showcase featuring 100 different local egg dishes.

The fair has become an annual highlight, bringing together the community and celebrating the region's egg production heritage.
