Indian television actor Nitin Chauhan, known for his roles in Crime Patrol and MTV Splitsvilla, was found dead in his Mumbai apartment, as confirmed by Indian police.
The 35-year-old actor, who also gained fame as the winner of the reality show Dadagiri, was reportedly battling depression and had not secured acting work for over three years.
Authorities have initiated an investigation, with preliminary information suggesting the cause of death as suicide.
Chauhan’s wife told police that he had been undergoing treatment for depression and that his ongoing unemployment had added to his stress.
His passing has sent shockwaves through the Indian entertainment industry, with friends and former co-stars taking to social media to express their grief.
Actor Vibhuti Thakur shared a heartfelt tribute, posting a black-and-white photo of Chauhan on Instagram, saying, “My dear friend, rest in peace. I’m truly shocked and saddened.” TV actor Sudeep Sahir also expressed his sorrow by posting an Instagram story with Chauhan’s photo, writing, “Rest in peace, friend.”
Originally from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, Chauhan gained his first major break in 2009 by winning Dadagiri 2. He went on to make notable appearances in popular shows such as MTV Splitsvilla and Crime Patrol, as well as Zindagi Dot Com. Known for his dedication to fitness, Chauhan regularly shared fitness content on his Instagram account.
