After Trump’s 2024 election win, Jimmy Kimmel Live! host Jimmy Kimmel became emotional, calling Trump’s victory "a terrible night." During the November 6 episode, Kimmel opened with a monologue, saying that all seemed lost after the former president’s re-election.
Addressing the audience, he said, “It was a terrible night last night. It was a terrible night for women, for children, for the hundreds of thousands of hardworking immigrants who make this country go. For healthcare, for our climate, for science, for journalism, for justice, for free speech…”
Blinking back tears, he went on, “It was a terrible night for poor people, for the middle class, for seniors who rely on social security, for our allies in Ukraine, for NATO, for the troops, and democracy and decency. And it was a terrible night for everyone who voted against him. And guess what? It was a bad night for everyone who voted for him too. You just don't realize it yet…”
Once Pop Base uploaded a clip of his speech on X on November 7, viewers flooded the comment section with their reactions. One user praised Kimmel, saying more people like him are needed in society.
“We need more men like Jimmy that care!” wrote one X user.
Others shared their thoughts, expressing that Kimmel effectively conveyed “the emotional impact that night had” on many.
“Jimmy Kimmel really captured the emotional impact that night had on so many people,” one person commented.
“He was so real for this,” said another user.
“And that's why he's better than Jimmy Fallon,” noted a netizen, comparing Kimmel to fellow host Jimmy Fallon.
Meanwhile, other users criticized voters for electing Trump, describing the result as a “huge loss for the country.”
“Huge loss for the country and especially the women in it. America is cooked,” wrote one user.
“I just will never get over the fact they voted for a felon etc.,” added another.
“SOMEONE THAT'S LITERALLY QUALIFIED IN THE THREE JUDICIAL BRANCHES LOST THE ELECTION TO A CONVICTED FELON,” said another X user.
Another user commented on WorldStar Instagram post, "He on that Diddy/Epstein list for sho."
