YouTuber and rapper DDG has publicly defended ex-girlfriend Halle Bailey after she expressed displeasure with their 9-month-old son, Halo, appearing on a livestream without her knowledge.
Bailey, known for her roles in The Little Mermaid and The Color Purple, took to social media to criticize Halo's appearance in Twitch streamer Kai Cenat’s “Mafiathon 2” stream on November 6. Bailey shared her frustration on X (formerly Twitter), noting that she was “extremely upset” to learn about her son’s appearance, especially while she was out of town.
In response, DDG (real name Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.) addressed the situation in a YouTube video on November 7, asking fans to “leave Halle alone.” He emphasized his “unconditional love and respect” for Bailey, acknowledging her concerns and mentioning that she may be going through a difficult transition as a mother. “She could be going through something mentally after having a kid that I can’t understand as a man,” he said, adding that they both aim to create a safe and memorable childhood for Halo.
Bailey later clarified her earlier statement, affirming her confidence in Halo’s safety with DDG but noting her discomfort in learning about her son’s activities alongside the public. “I know that Halo is always safe with his dad,” she wrote, expressing appreciation for Cenat’s gifts for Halo but reiterating her wish for prior notification.
DDG concluded by reminding fans of the challenges the former couple faces as they co-parent after their breakup, stating, “It’s hard for us.” He urged fans to avoid pitting them against each other, focusing instead on mutual respect.
