Yash Raj Films is celebrating two decades of its heart-stirring classic Veer Zaara with an international re-release that promises to reignite the magic, Filmfare reported. From November 7, the iconic romance directed by Yash Chopra will light up 600 screens across the globe, including a grand premiere in Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Qatar, marking a historic first for the film in these regions.
Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, and Rani Mukerji, Veer Zaara holds its place as one of the most beloved Indian films of all time, dominating both domestic and international box offices upon its initial release.
Set against the backdrop of India and Pakistan, the film follows the journey of Veer (Shah Rukh Khan), an Indian Air Force pilot, who falls in love with Zaara (Preity Zinta), a Pakistani woman. Their love is challenged by family, societal expectations, and a twist of fate that leads to Veer's wrongful imprisonment in Pakistan. With the help of a determined lawyer, played by Rani Mukerji, the film explores themes of sacrifice, devotion, and the power of love to defy all odds. Veer Zaara is a celebration of hope, perseverance, and the belief that love, no matter how impossible, can unite hearts across borders.
To celebrate the milestone, fans worldwide will experience Veer Zaara like never beforefeaturing the iconic deleted song, Yeh Hum Aa Gaye Hai Kahaan, which has never been part of the film until now. The re-release will hit screens in over a dozen countries, from the USA to the UAE, UK, Australia, and South Africa.
Nelson D'Souza, Vice President of International Distribution, shared, "We sensed the global excitement and fan demand to bring this love story back to theaters. This re-release is a tribute to Veer Zaara's passionate fanbase, who have kept the film alive in their hearts over the years."
The film's star and Bollywood icon Shah Rukh recently made headlines with celebrations for his 59th birthday. Much to the surprise of his fans, the actor once again proved that change is possible at any stage in life. SRK, who once smoked up to 100 cigarettes a day, made a heartfelt announcement to his fans: "I'm not smoking anymore, guys." The revelation came as Shah Rukh, known for his candidness, shared the challenges of quitting the habit, admitting, "I thought I won't feel so breathless after quitting smoking, but I still feel it."
