Cops remanded to 14-day judicial custody

The arrested accused were produced before the court by the cantonment police .

The Civil Judge and Judicial Magistrate, Consumer Protection Court, Hyderabad, sent sub-inspector Abdul Waheed Panhwar and constable Zohaib Hussain on 14-day judicial remand. Both the cops are accused of keeping two businessmen of Naushahro Feroze in illegal confinement and extorting money from them.

The arrested accused were produced before the court by the cantonment police after the completion of their investigative remand.

The cantonment police on November 1 registered a case against SI Abdul Waheed Panhwar, constable Zohaib Hussain, Mahmood Gujjar, an unidentified official, and three private individuals on charges of illegally detaining businessmen - Muhammad Saleh and Ateeq and extorting over Rs1.9 million from them.

In this case, only Abdul Waheed Panhwar and Zohaib Hussain have been apprehended, while the remaining suspects have been declared proclaimed offenders.
