FaZe Clan member Plaqueboymax has ignited controversy after asserting that streaming can be more challenging than traditional 9-5 jobs.

During a November 4 broadcast, Plaqueboymax stated, “Being a streamer, or any face on the internet, is harder than a 9-5 in certain ways because it f*cks you up mentally.” While he acknowledged the physical demands of regular jobs, he emphasized the psychological strain that comes with public scrutiny, adding, “You are literally seeing thousands give their thoughts on you every second. No human brain should be able to tolerate that.”

The comment quickly sparked mixed reactions. Fellow streamer Chris Ray Gun tweeted, “Content creation is in fact not as easy as you’d assume (especially if you care), but STREAMING is SPECIFICALLY the easiest sh*t ever.” Another critic suggested, “Yeah, go to a McDonald’s drive-through with your Lamborghini and tell them that your job is harder than theirs.”

Despite the criticism, some viewers agreed with Plaqueboymax’s take on the intense demands of streaming. “If you don’t stream consistently, then you die off,” said one supporter. Another user highlighted the exhausting hours many top streamers put into their work, noting, “I’m absolutely wrecked after streaming for like three hours.”

This debate echoes earlier instances in 2024 when Twitch streamer Hasan received backlash for saying that streaming “sucks the soul out of you” more than regular jobs. Likewise, FaZe Lacy sparked similar criticism in August, arguing that social skills required in streaming make it harder than traditional employment. The ongoing discussions highlight the contrasting views on the demands and pressures of streaming versus conventional work.
