Overseas Pakistanis to get refunds against deposits in residential scheme

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Board has approved the constitution of a seven-member committee to scrutinise the claims involving the Nilore Heights housing project. Approval was also given to form a third-party validation committee for the evaluation of the recommendations given by the scrutiny committee.

The CDA also decided that the processing fee deposited in the Nilore Heights project be refunded.

The decisions were taken in the 15th meeting of the CDA Board under the chairmanship of CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa at the CDA Headquarters in which all the board members of CDA participated.

Among the agendas approved in the meeting, the CDA board resolved that the processing fee deposited by overseas Pakistanis in the Nilore Heights housing project would be fully refunded.

It was also decided that the plots of Sector C-14 would be allotted through a draw and overseas Pakistanis would be given priority in Sector C-14. The meeting further decided that a seven-member committee would scrutinise the cases of disputes and unsettled land claims.

The board also gave its nod to the establishment of the third-party validation committee. In light of the recommendations of the validation committee, the victims would be given rehabilitation rights. The CDA board also approved the establishment of a committee consisting of the member admin and the DC Islamabad for changes in land acquisition regulations of CDA.

The CDA board directed that the law wing should work for the establishment and maintenance of the market and submit recommendations to the board. The CDA board further approved the appointment of a new legal advisor for the institution. It was decided in the meeting that in future no legal advisor of the CDA would appear in the case against the CDA until one year after leaving the post.
