This weekend, New Orleans will honor hip-hop icon Lil Wayne at the annual Lil Weezyana Fest 2024, recognizing his influence on music and dedication to the city. The festival, founded by Lil Wayne in 2015 on the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, was established as a way for the artist to give back to New Orleans. Over the years, it has evolved into a major cultural event that highlights the city's vibrant music scene and community spirit.

Lil Wayne, a key figure in hip-hop with a career spanning over two decades, will headline the festival on Saturday at the Smoothie King Center. This year’s event promises an exciting lineup, including a Hot Boys reunion featuring Juvenile, BG, and Turk, along with guest appearances by Mannie Fresh and Rob 49.

In a special tribute, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell will present Lil Wayne with the Key to the City, underscoring his contributions to music and his hometown. Cantrell's office commented on the honor, stating that the award reflects the artist’s “enduring impact on New Orleans and the world.” Furthering the festivities, New Orleans Entertainment Ambassador Master P will bestow upon Lil Wayne a Career Achievement Award, celebrating his roles as an artist, producer, and music executive.

The event has garnered considerable anticipation from fans and locals alike, eager to witness the legacy of Lil Wayne and the unique blend of hip-hop culture rooted in New Orleans.
