Rapper 50 Cent has recently opened up about turning down a $3 million offer to perform at a Trump rally, revealing his reluctance to mix music with politics.
The “I Get Money” hitmaker shared details of the decision during an appearance on The Breakfast Club radio show, where he admitted, “They still offered me $3 million to perform at the RNC. I didn’t even go far… I didn’t talk to them about that kinda stuff. I’m afraid of politics.”
He added, “When you get involved in it, no matter how you feel, someone will passionately disagree with you.”
The clip of the interview quickly went viral, with fans weighing in on social media. Some praised the rapper for standing by his principles, calling him a “king” for refusing the money, while others remarked that the Trump offer wasn’t “good money.”
Comments like, “50 Cent’s integrity isn’t for sale” and “He’s his own person,” echoed throughout Instagram, with users applauding the rapper’s stance.
50 Cent shared further reflections on his choice, mentioning that politics and religion are areas he prefers to avoid, given the divisive reactions they often spark. “I’m afraid of politics. It’s because when you do get involved in it, no matter how you feel, somebody passionately disagrees with you,” he said.
He referenced Kanye West’s own controversial political and religious statements, which he believes contributed to West’s recent relocation to Japan. According to 50 Cent, “He said something about both of those things and now he can only go to Japan.”
This isn’t the first time 50 Cent has been approached by political figures; he recalled another instance where he was asked to perform his hit song “Many Men” at the Republican National Convention.
Despite being one of the most successful rappers in the industry, 50 Cent maintains his stance on steering clear of politics, a decision that continues to resonate with fans across the globe.
