'Polio drive secures first-day target'

In the cases of 55 children, parents refused to give their children polio shots.

RAWALPINDI:

The anti-polio campaign in Rawalpindi district entered its second day on Tuesday.

On day one of the polio vaccination campaign, 197,898 children received polio drops, while the set target for the day was 198,985 children, meaning that 99.4% success rate was achieved. Out of the 41,000 children that were unavailable at first, 23,000 were covered by evening and the remaining 18,000 will be caught up with in the next five days.

Moreover, in the cases of 55 children, parents refused to give their children polio shots, however, the polio teams were able to convince them to reconsider and administered the vaccination to these children as well.
