An accident involving a coaster near Hatti Mera in Mansehra has resulted in the deaths of four individuals and injuries to two others.
According to the motorway police, the coaster was en route from Gilgit to Rawalpindi.
Initial reports suggest that the accident occurred due to the driver falling asleep at the wheel.
The deceased and injured have been transported to King Abduallah Teaching Hospital (KTH) Mansehra. Upon receiving the information, the motorway police quickly arrived at the scene, and relief efforts are ongoing under the supervision of the SP of Hazara Motorway.
A few days ago, Punjab reported at least 16 fatalities and 1,638 injuries from 1,467 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in the past 24 hours. Of these, 739 individuals with serious injuries were taken to hospitals, while 899 received on-site treatment.
Motorbikes accounted for 77% of the incidents. Victims included 846 drivers, 69 underage drivers, 181 pedestrians, and 627 passengers.
Lahore reported the highest number of RTCs at 287, affecting 331 people, followed by Faisalabad with 100 RTCs and 97 victims, and Multan with 79 RTCs and 88 victims.
The total number of affected individuals included 1,654, comprising 1,262 males and 392 females. Victim age groups revealed that 299 were under 18, 897 were between 18 and 40, and 458 were over 40.
