Observes SHOs violated constitutional rights in separate incidents

RAWALPINDI:

A sessions court in Rawalpindi has ordered the registration of cases against SHOs of Rawat and Ratta Amral police stations, along with 15 personnel, for allegedly violating constitutional rights in two separate incidents.

The court directed the police officers to face charges after they reportedly entered the home of a widow, Zahida Bibi, without a warrant, causing extensive damage, stealing valuables—including jewellery, cash, and bonds—and even taking a motorcycle.

According to court documents, the SHO and 14 officers from Ratta Amral police station forcibly entered Zahida Bibi's home, breaking CCTV cameras and destroying furniture.

Bibi alleged that the officers acted in collusion with her opponents, against whom she has an ongoing feud, and even filed a false case against her son.

Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Waseem Anjum has summoned the Ratta Amral SHO and 15 officers for a hearing on November 6.

The court emphasised that no one, including law enforcement, is above the law, and ordered that cases be registered against those who abused their authority.

In a related case, the court criticised SHO Rawat and two other officers for failing to recover two children despite court orders. SHO Zahid Zahoor reportedly ignored show cause notices and failed to appear in court.

The court mandated an FIR against the Rawat SHO and two other officers for dereliction of duty and instructed CPO Rawalpindi to ensure the children's recovery and produce them in court with a copy of the FIR.

Petitioner Abida Kulsoom sought the court's help to recover the children, identified as Syed Multamas and Syed Almas. The court set the next hearing for November 4, calling for accountability and adherence to judicial orders.
