Liam Payne’s anticipated Netflix series, Building the Band, has been put on hold following the singer’s recent death, sources reveal. According to insiders, the streaming giant will meet with Payne’s family at an appropriate time to discuss the series’ potential release date. “There is no rush or pressure to release the series,” a source told The US Sun, adding, “It would serve as a beautiful tribute, capturing Liam at his best in the months before his death.”

Building the Band, a UK-based competition show featuring Payne as a mentor alongside Pussycat Dolls’ Nicole Scherzinger and Destiny’s Child’s Kelly Rowland, finished filming in August at Manchester’s Aviva Studios. Payne’s passing on October 16, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, has deeply affected fans and colleagues. Close friend and co-mentor Scherzinger shared her heartfelt tribute on social media, describing Payne as “a joy” and “light.” Scherzinger, who was among the last to contact him, reminisced about their initial meeting on The X Factor UK in 2011, where Payne’s journey with One Direction began.

The partial autopsy report disclosed substances, including cocaine and benzodiazepines, in Payne’s system. His untimely death has intensified conversations around mental health and substance abuse, with advocates urging individuals struggling to seek help. Payne’s family and fans gathered for tributes, honoring the musician’s enduring legacy and contribution to music.
