The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council has welcomed the appointment of Justice Yahya Afridi as the Chief Justice of Pakistan, calling it a positive and auspicious step.

In a joint statement, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council Vice Chairman Sadiq Ali Mohmand, and Executive Committee Chairman Syed Taimur Ali Shah, along with other members, expressed their approval of Justice Yahya Afridi's appointment.

They described Justice Afridi as an undisputed, nonpolitical, and impartial figure, whose appointment will help eliminate obstacles to the supremacy of Parliament, adherence to the rule of law, and the provision of swift and affordable justice.

The statement further emphasised that the proud lawyers of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa will continue to stand alongside the judiciary, playing their part in preserving democracy, upholding the rule of law, and ensuring the delivery of affordable justice in the country.

Additionally, the vice chairman and chairman of the executive committee called for an increase in the number of judges in the Supreme Court to expedite the provision of quick and affordable justice for the common man.
