Republican voters in Arizona are expressing concerns over Maricopa County’s announcement that it could take 10 to 13 days to fully tabulate the results.
Election officials have attributed the extended timeline to longer-than-usual ballots and a high voter turnout, but some Republicans are skeptical of the delay, raising questions about the process.
In Maricopa County, Deputy Elections Director Jennifer Liewer explained that the time frame is necessary to ensure accuracy and security. “We do expect that it will take between 10 and 13 days to complete tabulation of all the ballots that come in, but we ask for the community's patience,” Liewer said. She emphasized that the priority is to make sure the process is both secure and accurate.
However, some Republican voters are not convinced. On social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, several users have voiced their concerns, comparing Maricopa County's timeline to that of larger states like Texas. One user expressed frustration, saying, "30 million people live in Texas, and they are going to announce the results on election night. But Maricopa County, with 2.1 million votes, says it will take 10 to 13 days. That should terrify you."
30 million people live in the state of Texas and they are going to announce the results of on election night but Maricopa county which has to tabulate 2.1 million votes is going to tell you that it’s going to take them 10 to 13 days.

I am sorry, but unless you’re insane, that…
Another user questioned the efficiency of the process, writing, "Maricopa County has announced it could take 10-13 days to tabulate the votes. Texas has a population of over 30 million and reports results on election night. What’s going on here?"
This is nuts!!!! Maricopa County has announced it could take 10-13 days to tabulate the votes. Note that Texas has a population of over 30 million and they are able to tabulate their results and report them on election night! What’s going on here??! pic.twitter.com/nwALjZmffd

Concerns among Republican voters are fueled by issues from the 2022 midterm elections, when problems with older printers and longer ballots in Maricopa County led to scanning errors. An independent investigation later attributed the issue to older printers and heavier paper. Republican Kari Lake, who lost the 2022 governor’s race, has pointed to these Election Day issues as a factor in her defeat, which has heightened scrutiny around the 2024 process.
