Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of 'Super Smash Bros.', has officially ended his popular YouTube channel, teasing a new mystery game in his final video.
Sakurai revealed that he received a game development proposal in July 2021 while working on the 'Super Smash Bros. Ultimate' Kazuya reveal video and the DLC character Sora. Although he didn’t provide many details, Sakurai hinted that the game might be announced “sooner or later.”
He shared that he completed the game proposal “at lightning speed” but could not disclose more about the project at this time. Fans of Sakurai were reassured by the news, as many had speculated about his next move following the conclusion of his work on 'Super Smash Bros. Ultimate' earlier this year. Some even thought he might retire.
'Super Smash Bros. Ultimate', which launched in 2018, wrapped up with Sora from 'Kingdom Hearts' as its final fighter, bringing the roster to an impressive 89 characters. Sakurai previously expressed uncertainty about the future of the 'Super Smash Bros.' series, given the immense scale of 'Ultimate's' roster and success.
With Nintendo preparing to announce its next console, it remains unclear if Sakurai will be involved in another 'Super Smash Bros.' game or if his upcoming project is entirely different.
