ASAP Rocky, the acclaimed rapper whose real name is Rakim Mayers, is scheduled to stand trial later this month in connection with an alleged shooting incident from November 2021 involving his former friend and ASAP Mob member, ASAP Relli (real name Terell Ephron). The proceedings are set to begin today.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) announced Rocky's arrest in April 2022 upon his return from Barbados. According to the LAPD, the incident occurred on November 6, 2021, in the Hollywood area. An argument between two acquaintances escalated, leading to the suspect—allegedly ASAP Rocky—firing a handgun at the victim. ASAP Relli sustained a minor injury and later sought medical treatment.

In August 2022, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón formally charged ASAP Rocky with two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, including allegations of personally using a firearm. "Discharging a gun in a public place is a serious offense that could have ended with tragic consequences not only for the person targeted but also for innocent bystanders visiting Hollywood," Gascón stated. "My office conducted a thorough review of the evidence in this case and determined that the addition of a special firearm allegation was warranted."

ASAP Rocky has pleaded not guilty to all charges. If convicted, he could face up to nine years in prison for each count under California law. The trial is expected to draw significant media attention due to the high-profile nature of the case and the individuals involved.

The alleged victim, ASAP Relli, testified in November 2022, and video evidence purportedly showing moments of the incident was presented in court. The case has caused tension within the ASAP Mob collective, as both parties were once close associates.

As the trial date approaches, legal experts and fans alike are watching closely to see how the case unfolds and what impact it may have on ASAP Rocky's career and personal life.
