Aaqib Javed exits Lahore Qalandars to take up Pakistan Cricket role

Javed served as Lahore Qalandars' Director of Cricket Operations and Head Coach for eight years.

Lahore Qalandars' management has announced the amicable end of Aaqib Javed's journey with the franchise, as he steps into responsibilities with Pakistan Cricket.

After serving as the Director of Cricket Operations and Head Coach for eight years, Aaqib Javed's tenure with Lahore Qalandars has come to a close.

During this period, Aaqib led the team to remarkable success, including three PSL finals between 2020 and 2023, where they secured two consecutive titles.

"Aaqib Javed's association with Lahore Qalandars has been crucial in shaping the team's direction and success," said the Qalandars management.

His contributions, particularly in advancing the franchise's Player Development Program (PDP), have been key to Lahore Qalandars' vision of nurturing young talent.

Reflecting on his time with the franchise, Aaqib Javed said, "My journey with Qalandars has been unforgettable, filled with memorable moments and significant achievements. The Player Development Program, which has been close to my heart, gave me immense satisfaction as I saw young talent flourish."

He further added, "It has been a proud experience to contribute to the franchise’s success both on and off the field. After eight wonderful years, I feel it’s the right time to take on a new challenge with the national team. I am excited to serve Pakistan cricket in this new capacity."

Lahore Qalandars’ CEO, Sameen Rana, praised Aaqib's contributions, saying, "We are proud of the achievements Aaqib Javed brought to us. His tireless efforts helped elevate the franchise's vision and philosophy. From winning PSL titles to nurturing young talent through PDP, Aaqib's legacy will always be a source of pride for Qalandars."

While parting with a "heavy heart," Sameen Rana expressed his happiness over Aaqib Javed’s future endeavors with Pakistan cricket.

"We are saddened to see him go, but we are equally thrilled about his new journey with the national team," he added.
