Alia Bhatt’s latest release, Jigra, is poised to become the actress's lowest-grossing film after a lackluster box office performance.

The drama, which hit theatres on October 11, has collected a mere $2.7 million after its first week, plagued by controversies and negative word of mouth.

Directed by Vasan Bala, Jigra tells the story of sibling bonds and features a talented cast, including Vedang Raina. Despite initial expectations, the film failed to captivate audiences, even with the boost from the Dussehra holiday.

Opening with $550,000, the film's earnings saw a slight rise over its first weekend, amassing $2 million, but dropped significantly in subsequent days, with daily collections remaining under $240,000.

On the second Friday, the film garnered only $150,000, indicating a continued decline in interest.

Trade expert Sumit Kadel has predicted that Jigra will likely finish its theatrical run with a total of $3.4 million, which would place it among Alia Bhatt's lowest performers.

What is Bhatt's lowest-grossing film to date?

Historically, Bhatt has been a box office powerhouse, with 8 out of her 17 theatrical releases grossing over $12 million domestically. Currently, her lowest-grossing film is Highway (2014), which made $3.7 million.

Given the current trajectory of Jigra, it is on track to surpass Highway as her least successful film.

While Alia Bhatt has enjoyed significant commercial success in her career, with films like Shaandaar (2015), Udta Punjab (2016), Dear Zindagi (2016), and Student of the Year (2012) among her top five lowest grossers, the reception of Jigra raises questions about audience engagement and the film's overall appeal.
