PTI in amateurs' hands, Fazl’s role is key in politics: Fawad Chaudhry

Fawad criticises PTI leadership for inconsistency in protests, urging party figures to take on more responsibility.

Former Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry has claimed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is currently being run by "amateurs," while lauding the crucial role of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman in navigating Pakistan's political landscape.

Speaking to the media outside the Islamabad High Court, Fawad stressed that politics in Pakistan is at a critical juncture, with the coming week expected to shape the country’s political future, Express news reported.

He noted that Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s leadership has been instrumental in managing the opposition and showing political wisdom during negotiations with the government.

Fawad also pointed out that Fazl's opposition to military courts and changes to the judiciary's structure has boosted his political standing.

"The hopes of the Pakistani people are tied to Fazlur Rehman’s role in these crucial times," he said, adding that PTI, despite being the largest party, lacks effective leadership.

The former minister criticised PTI’s current leadership, accusing them of being inconsistent in their approach to protests and political strategy. He urged key figures like Dr Arif Alvi, Omar Ayub, and Asad Qaiser to take on more responsibility and address the concerns of PTI’s jailed members and the opposition.

Meanwhile, in an accountability court, a hearing for a corruption case involving Chaudhry regarding road construction in Jhelum was adjourned until November 11, after the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) requested more time to submit its report.
