ISLAMABAD:

Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb has tested positive for dengue virus, leading to the postponement of important court hearings.

On medical advice, the judge has been advised to take complete bed rest, prompting him to go on a two-day leave, which will extend until Friday.

As a result of his absence, the single bench was unable to proceed with the bail hearing of Bushra Bibi in the Tosha Khana case.

Similarly, the division bench, which includes Chief Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, could not hear the acquittal plea of the founder of PTI in the £190 million case.

On Thursday, the court rejected a request by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for a week to appoint a special prosecutor in the Tosha Khana case and instructed FIA officials to present the newly appointed prosecutor in court.

However, due to the judge's illness, the hearing could not take place.

Judicial sources confirmed that Justice Aurangzeb's condition requires rest, and he is expected to return next week. With no hearings scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays, the proceedings will resume after his recovery.
